Successful development is a process that doesn't work mechanically, it has to evolve freely driven by the aims and the wishes, the ideas and the achievements of each individual. That's why liberal development policy aims at giving people the necessary scope to develop and secure their potentials and abilities.

Central, Southeast and Eastern Europe still on track with their reform programme
In essence, the countries of the region are still on track with their reform programme, despite conservative and populist setbacks in several project countries such as Russia for example, where the centralisation of power tended to increase. The party landscape has been further consolidated in the new EU member states.

African States on the Way to More Democracy and a Market Economy
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation supports the strengthening of the existing reform processes, the respect of human rights and the rule of law and the development of a market economy in Senegal, Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Africa. The Foundation's partners are international human rights organisations, liberal parties and national economic associations.
