Our Project Work Abroad



Successful development is a process that doesn't work mechanically, it has to evolve freely driven by the aims and the wishes, the ideas and the achievements of each individual. That's why liberal development policy aims at giving people the necessary scope to develop and secure their potentials and abilities.

On the following pages, we provide an insight into our project work abroad.

Central, Southeast and Eastern Europe still on track with their reform programme

In essence, the countries of the region are still on track with their reform programme, despite conservative and populist setbacks in several project countries such as Russia for example, where the centralisation of power tended to increase. The party landscape has been further consolidated in the new EU member states.

African States on the Way to More Democracy and a Market Economy

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation supports the strengthening of the existing reform processes, the respect of human rights and the rule of law and the development of a market economy in Senegal, Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Africa. The Foundation's partners are international human rights organisations, liberal parties and national economic associations.

New Opportunities for the Mediterranean Area

Again in 2005, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation has been involved in multiple political developments and has supported national movements for more democracy and the rule of law in the Mediterranean area.

Activities in Latin America

Many of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation's Latin American partners are choosing a policy of reform in their structural and managerial approach. The Foundation supports their attempt to increase the professionalism and efficiency of their work through offers of online education and information and on-the-scene support for modernising liberal parties and organisations.

For Freedom and Responsibility in South Asia

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation has, for many years, strived with its partner organisations to further the development of freedom and responsibility in the civil societies of the South East Asia region. Central topics are, apart from the sustainable strengthening of human rights and an active participation by the citizens, economic development as well as conflict prevention and management.

The Programmes for East and South East Asia

Creating a continent-wide network of liberal parties, strengthening human rights and canvassing for a market economy – these are the programmatic columns of the Foundation's work in East and South East Asia. They are achieved through conferences, seminars, and workshops as well as by cross-border dialogue, publications and consultancy work.
