International Relations, the political development of China, Human Rights and Minority Rights policies cannot be ignored in Dharmasala. Representatives of the Parliament in Exile and the Government in Exile were available for presentations and discussions. The colleagues met with the Prime Minister, Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, as well as the Speaker of the Parliament in Exile T. T. Karma Chomphel. The highlight of the meetings was the 45 minute long audience with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the religious leader of the Tibetans.
The Dalai Lama spoke not only about his recent meeting with the Chancellor Merkel and the Chairman of the Foundation Wolfgang Gerhardt, but especially enquired about the situation in Sri Lanka and Pakistan from the colleagues. The situation in the neighboring Buddhist country Burma was also discussed. The visit to the Children’s village, the Refugee Reception Centre and the Medical Centre as well as to one of the sittings of the Parliament in Exile rounded off the meetings with the Tibetan facilities.
