The International Virtual Conference Internet:Enabling:Freedom is focused on how political communication functions online. It is our aim to connect experts and liberal minded practitioners from around the world. Together we want to document, exchange and make available best practices to a broader audience by learning from each other. This one-off conference is conducted by the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung for freedom, and participation is free of charge.
The objective of our conference is to answer just one key question: can the internet - with all its sophisticated features - help us to achieve a liberal agenda in different political, cultural and economic environs? We sincerely hope that this conference will be, in itself, an answer to this question. Does the interactive Web help us to implement political participation of individuals, freedom of speech, community-building and campaigning? We aim to unite participants from all continents for a free exchange of experiences and a discussion of best practices, practices which seem to empower the individual and the liberal cause for democracy and freedom in all realms. Best practices reflect how appropriate and successful these new technologies are in a given sociopolitical environment.
