Zimbabwe since 1981, one year after the country had gained its independence from Britain. After 15 years of a bitter guerilla struggle against settler colonialist and 90 years of colonial rule, the task ahead for the country was to build a sound economy and a new democratic dispensation. In the 26 years of its presence in Zimbabwe, the Foundation has focused on three broad areas of support: the promotion of a market economy, advancing the principles of liberal democracy and the tenets of the rule of law.
