The Africa Liberal Network (ALN) is made up of 17 member parties from 15 African countries. It is an associate organisation of Liberal International which is the world federation of liberal and progressive democratic political parties, founded in 1947. ALN aims to promote liberal democratic objectives and principles throughout the African continent. Some examples of activities which are run by ALN are training workshops, advocacy and lobbying, information and skills exchange through visits, website, publications and research as well as election/Campaign support to name a few. Some of the member parties are well known such as the Peoples Democratic Party in Senegal, Seychelles National Party in the Seychelles as well as the Democratic Alliance in South Africa. The Foundation endeavours to assist the network achieve these goals by collaborating with the Liberal Democrats in London who currently host the ALN Secretariat, to hold conferences and workshops to enhance the members capacity.




The Organisation of African Liberal Youth (OALY) is a network of African liberal youth movements across Africa, whose main purpose was to build fellowship and solidarity among the youth on the African continent. This was created a platform for liberal youth to exchange ideas as well as training on relevant concepts and principles of Liberalism. The network was formed in August 1997. In previous years, the Foundation’s work with OALY focused on training in leadership, dialogue on liberal principles, strategy planning as well as networking and lobbying. New measures of cooperation are underway to re-invigorate active participation among existing members, new members and establish fluid organisational management.




The Southern African Legal Assistance Network (SALAN) was founded in 1994 to encourage dialogue and the sharing of information on human rights in Southern African countries. It is a network of non-profit, non-governmental organisations in the Southern African development Community (SADC) region that represent the rights of the poor, disadvantaged and marginalised. They also offer people legal representation within the court system. The network is made up of 11 member organisations within the SADC region. The Foundation supports the network in information exchange opportunities which take place in the form of their annual meetings as well as the SALAN website which is partially sponsored by the Foundation. New measures for future cooperation are envisaged between the Foundation and SALAN to engage more in their field of the work they perform in the region.
